Wanting and being
There is a drastic difference between being good at something, and wanting to be good at something else. But of course the desire to be proficient in a certain field is just that — a desire. Oh certainly, we can work on that and perhaps eventually becoming average (which is better than poor, mind you). However, it is still not the same as being inherently good at it, which would lead to a mastery of the craft and then creativity, and so on. A skill and a talent are two different things. A person may be skilled in, let’s say, art, but she may not necessarily be talented, in that she can develop her own style. She may have talent in writing, yet she may not like it. It can become quite confusing, mind you.
And it is in such a dilemma that I am stuck in. I like graphic novels, watercolor sketches, and all that. I would love to be just as well-versed in it and become an artist, though unfortunately it is not to be. I could draw, but I could never be innovative with it. However, do not get the wrong idea, please. I do love what I am good at, which is writing and having a knack for languages (at least I hope so), but my heart also goes out to watercolors and pastels and graphic novels, things I could never have an inherent talent for.
If I am not complaining (which I believe I am sounding much like), then what is this entry for?
More craziness, I tell you.
My username
Yes, there have always been some sort of odd curiosity on how one chooses his or her username. After all, what is in a name, right? It seems to hold magic and mystery for the careful one that wants just the right name to describe or at least, give a clue to what type of person we are.
As for me, the username I chose for my wordpress is that of a song. A Japanese song by my favorite band, Lareine. Oh yeah, and I definitely love the vocalist too. He is very suave and put simply, there is something about him. It is pretty much what we would say about someone we admire very much. Unfortunately, the band has already broken up, but the vocalist/leader/producer is already in the process of creating a new band by the name of Versailles. The theme of Lareine was romance; now I wonder what theme Versailles will perform under. That is the most important aspect of a jrock band; their concept, upon all else will depend on.
The song “Fuyu Tokyo” is, as to be expected, idealistic and romantic. I translated this a long time ago back in my high school days, so do not expect me to remember it all. However, it is mostly about romantic, albeit unrequited love. Sad, isn’t it? Anyway, I bring you the PV, or promotion video. Enjoy!
PS. I absolutely adore Kamijo’s custom-made tuxedo here. Of course, he portrays the image of a prince (maybe a spoiled one).
First post
First posts are usually the hardest for me, at least in my opinion. From the initial entry, people will form their opinions of you and what type of posts could be expected in the future. It’s all a hoax to me, yet the theory does seem to apply to certain blogs out there.
I would start with a small paragraph about myself, but then there’s the “About” page already written out and published in the most shameless way. I was thinking of using this new space of mine for mp3 rotations; you know, to promote and educate other people about Jrock. Or it could be about a variety of topics.
At least people can say I lead a very colorful life.
